Ms. Geraldine "Geri" DiLauro, 91, of Fishkill, NY, was called to her heavenly home on October 31, 2025. She was born on August 20, 1934, in Ulster County, a beloved daughter of the late Biagio and Lillian (Salvino) Carro.
For 28 years, Geri worked as a secretary for Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, a Catholic missionary organization in Ossining, NY. Much like the work she did, Geraldine is remembered for her true kindness and a heart full of unconditional love. Her journey on this earth was marked by compassion, empathy, and unwavering faith in God.
Outside of her career, Geri was first and foremost a mother and grandmother. She often said that her family was her most prized possession. Her family remembers her as the kindest and gentlest soul, always putting others before herself. Whether it was a simple family dinner, celebrating someone's accomplishment, or watching The Price Is Right and guessing who would be over or under bid with her grandchildren, Geri cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Additionally, Geri had many passions. She was an avid crocheter, known for creating beautiful blankets. But most of all Geri loved playing cards, especially poker, and found even greater joy in sharing that passion with her grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her father, Biagio Carro; her mother, Lillian (Salvino) Carro; her brother, Anthony DaGasta; and her sister, Patricia Yusup. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Carl) Eyler of Pittsford, NY; four grandchildren: Matthew (Makenzie) Eyler of Hopewell Junction, NY, Carson Eyler of Phoenix, AZ, Nicholas (Jennifer) Eyler of Victor, NY, and Rachael (Jacob) Eyler of Holtsville, NY; and three great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Assumption Cemetery in Peekskill, New York.
