Donald Doing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Homes Inc - Sherburne on Jan. 5, 2026.
GREENE (COVENTRY):
Donald S. Doing, 81, of North Rd., passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at UHS Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City.
Donald was born on July 28, 1944, in Norwich, a son of the late Lewis and Grace (Jones) Doing and was educated in local schools.
On July 3, 1965, Donald united in marriage with Mary Dungey in Earlville. Mary predeceased him on October 1, 2025, after 60 years of marriage.
Donald spent his career as a truck driver, a career he took great pride in. He was employed by Coventry Transport, from which he retired. Following his retirement he worked for Sunrise Valley Farms, Norwich.
Outside of work, Donald enjoyed landscaping and working outdoors. He also had a passion for restoring old tractors and proudly displayed them in local parades, a pastime that brought him great satisfaction and joy. His love for his family and being together was most important to Don.
Donald is survived by his children, Donna and Mark Rinker of Coventry, Wendy and Norm Poyer of Whitney Point, Aron Doing and his fiancée Lori Knapp of Coventry; his sister, Ruby Bartlett of Earlville; his brothers and sister-in-law, William "Bill" Doing of Norwich and Lynn and Mildred Doing of Lebanon; his grandchildren, Ashley and Greg Kenyon of Whitney Point, Jacob and Madison Poyer of Schenectady, Sara and Chad Eberly of Binghamton, Stacey and Devin Cooper of Schenectady, Adam Doing of Twinsburg, OH, Morgan Doing and Justin Shuba of Endicott, Andrew Doing of Bainbridge, and Carley Collins and Joshua Piatt of Port Crane; and his great-grandchildren, Ariya, Ava and Maverick Kenyon, Levi Eberly, Hayes, Benson and Daisy Cooper, and Mason Shuba. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was predeceased by his sister, Bertha Marquet.
A Celebration of Life in his honor will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 11am to 1pm at the Coventry Town Hall, 1839 NY-235, Greene, NY 13778.

Don picked up milk at our dairy farm for many years when he drove for Coventry Transport. I always looked forward to visiting with him. He was a very sweet & kind man. May he rest in peace. Sympathies to his family.

My deepest sympathies to Don & Mary's family. Don and Mary both were very nice people. I never knew either of them to say anything bad about anyone. May God comfort all his children, grandchildren, and siblings. My love especially to Wendy and Norm. May our Lord comfort you in this time of your loss, Heaven's gain.
