Donald Gray Beverly Sr. “Don” passed away August 26, 2025 at the age of 87 at his home in Cana Virginia. His loving and caring wife Mabelene, who diligently cared for him for many years, never left his side and held his hand as he entered the gates of heaven. One can only imagine the reunion when he was reunited with his beloved son Gray, granddaughter Jessi, his brother Jerry and his Mama and Daddy and many other loved ones who have gone on before him. He was born and raised in Mount Airy, NC and graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1956. For as long as his health permitted, he would join his graduating classmates frequently for get-togethers and celebrations. He was a car salesman in Mount Airy for more than forty years. He was loyal to his customers and would go above and beyond for them. This loyalty led to many lifelong friendships that he truly treasured. Don sincerely believed that one is more blessed to give than to receive. His generosity knew no bounds. He would do anything he could to help anyone in need and never expected anything in return. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mabelene Beverly of almost thirty-three years, his children Todd Beverly (Kim), Kevin Beverly (Becky), Terri Beverly, Curtis Mundy (Melissa), Tim Mundy (Jodi) and daughters in law Cindy Beverly and Michelle Mundy, and his sister Gail Coe (Don). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margie Beverly, his son’s Gray Beverly and Gary Mundy, his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Beverly Beverly, and a granddaughter, Jessi Beverly; grandson, Gregory Quesinberry. Although Don is gone from our sight we can rejoice in knowing that we will see him again. He will live in our hearts forever. “Blessed are they that morn; for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 Flowers will be accepted and appreciated, or you may donate to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. The family want to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all the love, care and support given to Don and Mabelene after his decline. A celebration of Mr. Beverly’s life will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Wendell Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Cana Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to say a special thanks the the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care and kindess they have shown to the family during this time.
