Donald Max Duke, 77, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, left this earth for his eternal life July 12, 2024. Max, as he was known, was born at Mobile Infirmary on December 23, 1946. Max was an avid fan of pro wrestling, Nascar, Alabama Football and professional billiards. He was very well known in the billiards community in the southeast, having played and beaten some very well known pool players. He enjoyed cooking and food, spending time with friends and family, and was a true patriot. Max served honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam with the 2/32 Field Artillery Battalion (The Proud Americans) as an Artillery Gunner (13Bravo) in Tay Nin, South Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during combat. Max never met a stranger, whether it be out with friends or at his radiator re[air shop on Moffett Road, Brown and Duke Radiator. The shop opened in the mid 80's and ran successfully until Max's retirement in 2014.
Max is preceded in death by his father, Reverend Harvey Willie Duke and mother Beatrice H. Winther. He is survived by his daughter Tiki Duke McAlister of Green Cove Springs, FL; sons Kevin Jason Duke and Erin Shane Duke both of Mobile, AL; fifteen grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by the spouses of his children, both current and past, because he loved each of them as his own.
