Donald Engwall Obituary

Born on August 21, 1957, in Elizabeth, NJ, Donald was raised in Clark, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, family, and the outdoors. He was the beloved son of late Donald Gunnar Engwall and Emily (Fronczyk) Engwall.
Donald proudly served his community and state throughout his life. He began his law enforcement career with the New Jersey State Police, dedicating himself to protecting and serving with honor. Afterward, he spent six years with the Warren County Sheriff's Office in Belvidere, earning the respect and friendship of his colleagues and the community alike.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Donald was married to his beloved wife, Linda, for 37 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He is survived by his four children: Kathryn; Jacquelyn (Jeremy McPhearson); Donald Gunnar Jr.; and Brian. He was a proud grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Gemma McPhearson. Donald is also survived by his brother, David (Christine), and sister, Diane Brattole (Richard). He was predeceased by his parents.
Outside of his career, Donald found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and tending to his vegetable garden. His appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life inspired all who knew him. Donald was also an active member of St. Jude's Knights of Columbus in Blairstown and served as property manager of a local farm, where his strong work ethic and love of the outdoors shone through every day.
Donald will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, humor, and devotion to family and faith. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through service and friendship.
Family and friends may visit Monday, November 3rd from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94 in Blairstown, NJ. A Catholic mass will be held Tuesday, November 4th, 11:00 AM at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Belvidere, NJ

To Linda, Katie, Don Jr., Jackie and Brian, I am so sorry for your loss. Don was a good man and a true friend. He will be missed by all of us who knew him and loved him. Anna and I will cherish the memories we shared at various family celebrations over the past 40 years watching our children grow up together. More recently, I will remember our St. Patrick's Day lunch in Lake Mohawk and how much Don loved Emily's chocolate chip cookies. I will remember our dinners and winery trips together. All of you are in my prayers.
To Don Sr.,
Rest in peace brother. Your suffering is over. You've fought the good fight. You have earned your heavenly reward. I'll see you when I see you. Have a Guinness ready for me when I get there.
