Saint Peter Funeral Home - Klein ChapelDonald Duaine Erickson, age 94, of St. Peter, Minnesota (formerly of Victoria, Minnesota), passed away on March 26, 2026.
Donald was born on August 28, 1931, in Litchfield, Minnesota, to Arthur and Mildred Erickson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 65 years, Mary Lou; his sisters Clarice Koch, Elaine Obinger, and Lois Johnson; and his brothers Chester, Gordon, and Douglas.
He is survived by his children, Debby Dodds and Carol (Jerry) Seitzer; his grandchildren, James (Joni) Seitzer and Erica (Brett) Boyum; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Maxine Peterson and his brother-in-law, Lloyd Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald lived a full and meaningful life, guided by strong faith and deep devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and nothing meant more to him than the bond he shared with those he loved. He had a remarkable ability to form lasting friendships, a strong memory, and a gift for making everyone feel like the most important person in the room.
A proud Korean War Veteran, Donald served his country in the United States Army and carried that pride throughout his life. He worked for Northern States Power (NSP) for more than 30 years, demonstrating dedication and integrity in all he did.
Always willing to serve others, Donald devoted many years to the Masonic Lodge, the Minnesota Korean War Veterans Chapter, and the American Legion—serving as a founding member of the Kingston chapter and a longtime member of the Wayzata Legion. His faith was central to his life, and he cherished his church families at Ostmark Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, Mount Olivet West in Victoria, and Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter.
A funeral service will be led by Pastor Kurt Kalland on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mount Olivet West. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m., with lunch to follow. Burial will take place at Ostmark Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Mount Olivet and Shriners Children’s Hospital.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to River’s Edge Hospital and to Ecumen Prairie Ridge, as well as the residents and friends Donald made while living there.
