Donald Herbert Goode was born on March 2, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa to Cleo G. and Nellie L. (Willis) Goode. He was a proud graduate of East High School in Des Moines, Class of 1964. He lived in Clarinda, Iowa from 1994-1998, when he moved to Newton, Iowa, where he currently resides.
On December 21, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda Diane Fusaro in Omaha, NE. They had two children, John and Tamara. He worked as a sales manager for Lauterbach Auto in Newton for 15 years and retired in 2012. He later worked part time at HyVee in Newton.
Donald was a member of the East High School Alumni Association and the Izaak Walton League in Newton for the last 5 years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and attending his grandsons and great grandchildren's sporting events.
Donald is survived by his son, John (Alecia) Goode of Des Moines; daughter, Tamara (Byron) Tinder of Gilbert, IA; three grandsons, J.D. (Sarah) Goode, Jimmy Goode (Kelcie Howard) and Blake Tinder; three great grandchildren, Sawyer Goode, Grayson Goode and Aliva Goode; siblings, Marsha Gutierrez and Garry Goode both of Des Moines; in laws, Jeff Hollingshead and Janet Goode both of Des Moines and Deb Johnson of Mitchellville, numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion Carla Robeson of Newton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his son, James Gordon Goode; parents, Cleo and Nellie Goode; siblings, Vicki Hollingshead and Larry Goode and a great grandson, John Jr. Goode.
Donald passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025. A gathering for friends and family will be held at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines on August 2, 2025 from 1-3pm.
Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
