Madawaska--- Donald J. Hebert, 85, passed away peacefully October 1, 2025, following a short illness. He was born October 4, 1939 in Madawaska, a son of the late Emile and Marie Jeanne (Thibeault) Hebert.

Don enlisted with the US Army and was stationed in Germany for several years. Following his Honorable Discharge, he returned to his beloved hometown where he took work with the local paper mill, Fraser Paper. He spent almost 40 years of his life working the mill working his way up from millwright up to maintenance supervisor, until his retirement in 2000. Don was a world traveler and was able to revisit Germany and see much of France and Tunisia. He loved the wintertime because he could hit the ski slopes for days on end. Don also enjoyed hiking and peaked Mount Katahdin over 26 times!

He is survived by two children, Dennis Hebert and his wife Sharon of St. David, and Sharon Mullen and her husband Edward of California; two grandchildren, Derrick Hebert and Patrick Mullen; five siblings, Real Hebert and his wife Simone of Madawaska, Guy Hebert and his wife Monette of Canada, Allen Hebert of Gorham, Carol Hakian and her husband Cedric of Connecticut, and Diane Ringuette and her husband Medard of Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by three brothers, Yvan Hebert, Gilman Hebert, and Micheal Hebert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at St. David Catholic Church, St. David, with military honors. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave. Madawaska.
