Donald Jay Heron, age 90, of Fenton, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, with Fr. Roy Horning as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fenton. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. On Wednesday morning, Donald will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12:00 PM until the time of Mass.
Don was born on July 18, 1935, in Flint, the son of the late John and Lillian (Williams) Heron. He was a 1953 graduate of Fenton High School. Don and Frances Beven were united in marriage on October 6, 1956, in Flint. He worked for William E. Walter as a plumbing superintendent and was a respected member of UA Local 370 Plumbers and Pipefitters, where he dedicated 68 years of service. Don was an active member of Spring Meadows Country Club and served as its past president. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Frances; five children, Anthony (Jean) Heron, Douglas (Krist) Heron, James (Cynthia) Heron, Marcia (Tom) Guilliat, and Michael (Christine) Heron; 13 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Mark) Teffner, Jennifer Heron, Joseph Heron, Alexandra Heron, Johnny (Kari) Heron, Stephanie (Kyle) Chappelle, James (Savanna) Heron, Michael Heron, Jay Guilliat, Katherine (Talon) Faculak, Danielle (Austin) Gillim, Matthew Heron, and Andrew Heron; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Teffner, Madelyn Teffner, Jadah Briggs, Brody Briggs, and Alyssa Heron; his brother, Edwin (Nancy) Heron; and his sister, Nina Bouchard.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, John Heron, and two sisters, Betty Hill and Vicki Barton. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
