Donald Robert Hetter has passed away at the age of 76 on February 22, 2023, after a long, valiant battle with cancer.
Don was born in Central Patricia Ontario, Canada on January 28, 1947, to Edward and Kathleen Hetter (Kozun) He graduated from Grants High School in New Mexico in 1965 and attended college at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico.
His first love was the rodeo and bull/bronc riding which he did professionally for several years after college. He owned several horses which he would show, with the help of his youngest daughter at the rodeo and parades every year. He competed in the National Finals Rodeo and would always be seen wearing the championship belt buckle that he won in a competition. Every year he proudly attended the NFR competitions in Las Vegas as an honored guest. For over 30 years, he owned his own contracting business and established many subdivisions as well as the small railroad that runs through New Mexico. He is the author of the book Ruff Day at the Office, which is a fictional account that he based on the years he spent in the rodeo circuit. Don also enjoyed film making, colleting antiques, and golfing.
Don is survived by his daughters, Kyra Lynne Elliott (Dr. Joe Elliott) and Austin Rei Matthews (Michael Matthews), his sister Debbie Barnes (Raymond Barnes), his grandchildren Sergeant William Sedberry, Brittany Matthews, Brianna Matthews, Logan Matthews, and Elizabeth Judeika (Troy Judeika), his ten great grandchildren, nephews Brian Barnes and Patrick Barnes and (former) spouse, Sara Hetter.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Edward Hetter, his mother Kathleen Hetter (Kozun), his daughter Dr. Lisa Jeanette Dalen (Hetter) and (former) spouse Judith Carol Williams.

Don will be very missed by his family and friends. He was a strong man and a rodeo cowboy till the very end.
