Donald Eugene Huckaby, 87, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on July 22, 2025. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 am EST, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am EST officiated by Rev. Mike Turner. Services will conclude with a committal service at Newsome Cemetery in Phenix City, AL.
Donald Huckaby was born on June 30, 1938, in Phenix City, AL, to the late Durwood Marvin and Lucy Agnes Huckaby. Donald retired from Sunshine Biscuits as a Plant Manager after 30 years of employment. In his younger years, he enjoyed being outside, fishing, working in the yard, and working in his vegetable garden. Donald was known as a handyman who could fix anything that was broken and build anything he put his mind to. He had a great sense of humor and loved to socialize. Donald loved to go to the casino, especially Victory Land, any chance he got. He often did his own thing but loved his family dearly. Donald will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Donald Huckaby is preceded in death by his life partner of 20 years, Patricia “Pat” Ray; parents, Durwood Marvin and Lucy Agnes Huckaby; and brothers, Carlon “Ray” Huckaby, Marvin “Lamar” Huckaby, and Floyd Huckaby.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Cindy Shuck; sons, Donald “Donnie” Eugene Huckaby Jr., and Jeffrey “Jeff” Todd Huckaby; sisters, Louise Lenior and Faye Ryals (Harrell); brother, John “Johnny” Owen Huckaby (Suzanne); grandchildren, Cassie Van Den Akker (John), John Ryan Shuck, and Lucas Kane Huckaby; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
