Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boren-Conner Funeral Home - Bullard on Feb. 4, 2026.
Gary Lynn Huckaby, 66, of Troup, Texas passed away at home on January 28, 2026. Gary was born in Seminole, Texas on August 29, 1959 to Janith and Billy Jack Huckaby. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1979, where he enjoyed bull riding and the Rodeo Club. In 1980 he went to work for TUGCO and retired in 2015 from Luminant Mining (Oncor) after 35 years working as a Third Generation Heavy Equipment Operator.

Gary married Maria 'Mary' Quezada on March 17, 1984 and celebrated 41 years of marriage. Gary and Maria had two children, Trenton and Ethan along with three grandchildren Sophia, Hayes and Emery. Gary was a devoted husband, a steady presence as a father, and a proud grandfather. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Gary was an avid reader and enjoyed watching his Westerns, Nascar, rodeos, Dallas Cowboys, and playing with his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Maria Huckaby (Troup); his children, Trenton and Stephanie Huckaby, and Ethan and Taylor Huckaby; his mother, Janith Sallee; his siblings, Rhonda Womble and Billy J. and Ronna Huckaby; and his three grandchildren, Sophia Huckaby, Hayes Huckaby, and Emery Huckaby. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, Billy Sallee, Ronny Sallee, and Jimmy Sallee. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Jack Huckaby, and his stepbrother, Carl Sallee.

Celebration of Life will be held on Feb 21, 2-4 pm at the Family Activity Center (Shiloh Road Church of Christ, Tyler). Following cremation by Boren-Conner Funeral Home (Bullard), Gary's ashes will be rested at the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, Texas later alongside his father and twins, Amanda & Hondo Huckaby.

Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gary's name to the Troup Fire Department (P O Box 135 Troup, TX 75789).

When I die, remember that what you knew of me is with you always. What is buried is only the shell of what was. Do not regret the shell, but remember the man. –Louis L'Amour
