Age 93, formerly of Gainesville, passed away on February 13, 2026, at the Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Houghton.
He was born on November 13, 1932, in Freedom, NY, son of the late Wesley and Esther Fisher Johns. Don was a lifelong farmer, who owned and operated his family farm in Gainesville, Don-Ricia Farms. In 1959, he married his loving wife of fifty-six years, Patricia. Don enjoyed crafting with his wife, and they were regulars at craft shows.
Don is predeceased by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Stanley Johns and John Johns; his son-in-law, Ed James; a grandson, Spencer Johns.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna James of Castile; his son, David (Yvonne) Johns of Gainesville; his grandchildren, Darcy (Justin) Lyndaker, Erin (Adam) Vogler, Jenny (Jess) James, Mary James, Tabatha Johns, Uriah Johns, Ian Johns, Ethan Johns; his great-grandchildren, Olivia Lyndaker, Alyianah Johns, Ryder Johns; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11AM-1PM at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Don’s funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 1PM. Burial at Maple Grove Cemetery following his funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gainesville Rescue Squad, 2 East St., Gainesville, NY 14066 or the Alzheimer’s Association at donorservices.alz.org.
