In the beautiful city of Seattle, WA, on July 28th, 1940, a bright light entered the world in the form of Donald Richter Joslyn. He was a smart, loving, talented, and dedicated man who enriched the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Donald's life was marked by an undeniable sense of loyalty, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that made him unforgettable. His journey on this earthly plane was beautifully completed on September 6th, 2025.
Donald was a man of many passions. He worked for General Motors Chevrolet and retired from them after 20 years of service. He spent his professional life as an Import/Export Executive in the automotive industry. His outstanding work ethic and dedication to his craft were evident in his accomplishments, and his commitment to his profession was second to none. Yet, Donald was not all work and no play. His love for golf, fishing, and woodworking was well known among his friends and family. His fascination with cars was not just confined to his job; it was a hobby that he pursued with enthusiasm and vigor. Donald's life was a celebration of his loves, his talents, and his dreams. He was a proud graduate of Highline High School and cherished his years of growing up on Three Tree Point on the Eastern Banks of Puget Sound.
In the midst of his many accomplishments, Donald's greatest joy was his family. His love story with his wife Maureen spanned an incredible 66 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Their love story is survived by their son Todd, their daughter Mary, and their beloved grandchildren Elijah and Sophia. He is also survived by his sister, Robertta DeGrande. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances Watson. As we remember Donald, we are reminded of the verse from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, "Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love...". Donald's life was a true reflection of this verse, and his legacy will continue to live on through the love he shared.
