Donald George Kirincic, 89, of Palos Heights, IL, and Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida. Don split his time between Palos Heights and his second home in Sarasota, where he spent over 50 years creating fond memories.
He was born in 1935, at Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, IL, to Anton (Tony) Kirincic and Helen Kirincic (nee Ruzic). Don was the beloved husband of Dorothy Jean Kirincic (nee Camarda) for 65 years. He was a devoted father to Kimberly Jean Kirincic and Bonnie Jean Kirincic; cherished grandfather to Spencer Allen Yasak and Hazel Rose Kirincic-Reyburn; brother of the late Dennis Kirincic.
At the age of 18, in 1954, Don signed with the New York Giants, fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing professional baseball. He was later drafted into the Army, serving from 1958 to 1960, where he proudly represented his country on the baseball field. After his military service, Don continued playing in the minor leagues for a few more years before discovering his true calling-not on the field, but in the front office.
In 1963, Don joined the Chicago White Sox organization, working in the front office and beginning what would become a long and meaningful career in the sport he loved. After several years with the team, he pursued a new business venture, founding Don's Vending Company, which flourished thanks to his hard work and dedication. Despite his business success, his connection to the White Sox remained strong.
In 1974, his dear friend Bill Veeck called with an opportunity that allowed Don to fulfill another baseball dream: becoming a partner in the Chicago White Sox. Don remained a proud partner in the organization from 1974 onward, continuing his involvement under its current ownership. As a dear family friend so perfectly put it, "YOUR FATHER LIVED HIS DREAM!"
Family and friends will meet Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Assumption Catholic Church, 323 W. Illinois St., Chicago, IL 60654 for a 9:00 a.m. Visitation followed by an 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Parking at Assumption Church is available in the adjacent 311 W. Illinois building. Please proceed East on Illinois Street past Assumption Church and turn right (South) on Franklin Street. Proceed ½ block South and then turn right (West) into alley. Once in the alley make immediate right turn (North) into parking garage ramp. The large garage door will open after the attendant confirms you are a guest of Assumption Church. The Church has the first 35 spaces in the garage.
Visitation Friday, February 14, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Michalik Funeral Home, 1056 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60642, entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL. Friends and family may also meet directly at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery office for the entombment.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory be made to Chicago White Sox Charities, 333 W. 35th St., Chicago, IL 60616, www.whitesoxcharities.org.
We love you, and we will carry your light with us always.
