Katica Kirincic Obituary

Katica "Kathy" Kirincic

Jan 13, 1944 - Aug 16, 2025

Kathy (Katica) Kirincic (née Latin), age 81, of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born on January 13, 1944, in Hrasce, Croatia. She immigrated to the United States with her beloved husband, Stjepan (Steve) Kirincic. They shared a beautiful life together, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her children Vesna (Boris) and Steve (Nicole), and her four cherished grandchildren-Mathew, Krista, Noah, and Luka-who knew her lovingly as their "Baba." She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stjepan, her parents, Mijo and Ljubica. She is also preceded in death by her three dearest friends, Ann (Janica) Listar, Ana Ceperic, and Zora Sajn who were like sisters to her.

A member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and the Croatian Fraternal Union, Kathy was a proud part of her faith and cultural communities. She worked for many years at St. Catherine Hospital before retiring. Kathy had a deep love for gardening, always growing more than enough to share with others. Her cooking and baking were legendary-everything made from scratch with love. Her apple and cheese strudels, nut rolls, cookies, cakes, and tortes filled her home with delicious aromas. She loved baking for her family and for the Croatian Lodge. Her homemade chicken noodle soup, complete with hand-rolled noodles, was a family favorite. No one ever left her house hungry. She poured her heart into her family and community. She never missed a grandchild's sporting event or school activity and loved having her grandchildren over. She also found joy in long walks with her husband. Kathy taught her family the values of generosity, gratitude, and hard work-reminding them always to return kindness twofold.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 3-7pm at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8501 on Thursday August 21, 2021 at 10am (in the small chapel). Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to two loving and compassionate caregivers, Diana Lepper and Ann Baatar, and to the Hospice of the Calumet Area-especially their team: Nurse JD, aide LaJean, and Chaplain Mark. Just as they cared for our father, they cared for our mother with the same warmth and compassion.
