Donald G. Lambert, age 86, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2023. He was born February 8, 1937, in Clinchco, VA and grew up in Cleveland, VA, graduating from Cleveland High School. Most of his life he resided in Abingdon, VA where he was a beloved member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. A US Army veteran, Don held several occupations throughout his lifetime, primarily, as a salesman. Don served as President of the Virginia Life Underwriters Association for several years.
Don was a caring husband to the love of his life, Johnsey, for nearly 62 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stallard and Gertrude Lambert; brothers, Billy Lambert, and Charles Douglas Lambert; sister, Susan Redmond, and sister-in-law Donita Lambert.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Johnsey Cassell Lambert; two daughters, Robin Lindsey (Ron) and Sandi Carter (Pat); his son Seth Lambert (Helen); two brothers, Eddie Lambert, and Gary Lambert; one sister, Glenda Blevins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family requests a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Abingdon, 19383 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Abingdon with Pastor Kevin Rogerson officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery.
