Donald Stanley Lenn was born on March 4, 1934 in Fredericksburg, VA, and died Feb 21, 2024 in Pensacola, FL. The son of a career Marine Corps officer, Don entered the Corps in 1953 at Parris Island and retired after 20 years as a Marine Corp Captain. He married Barbara Gravrock in June, 1954 in Springfield, IL, and they lived at Camp Lejeune, NC, Toledo, OH, Quantico, VA, Rota, Spain, Kanehoe, HI, and he served tours in Okinawa and Vietnam.
He said he would never retire where he had to shovel snow or mow grass 12 months a year. A neighbor in Hawaii talked about Pensacola, and sight unseen they moved here with their 4 children. It proved to be a wise decision. He attended UWF and was employed at Gulf Power, retiring in 1989. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for many years, was an active member of St Paul Lutheran and Epiphany Lutheran churches, serving as Treasurer and instrumental in establishing an Endowment Fund at both churches, and also served on the Property Committees.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their sons David (Cindy), Robert, Thomas (Terri), James (Michele), nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and brother Jerry (Emily)
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6700 Spanish Trail, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM, preceded by visitation at 2:15 PM. Burial at Barrancas National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund at Epiphany Lutheran Church.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements. You may express condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.
