Donald Charles LeSage

Donald Charles LeSage, known affectionately as Don by friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in Marysville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 7, 1938, in the warm community of Concordia, Don's life was a testament to his selfless, generous, and thoughtful nature.
Don's early years were spent in the halls of Marysville High School, where he graduated in 1955, laying the foundation for a life of dedication and service. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call of duty and joined the Army, serving from 1956 to 1958, including a year stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1958. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Upon his return, Don began his career with Union Pacific in 1958, working diligently as a Locomotive Engineer until his retirement in 2000. His work ethic and commitment to his colleagues were unmatched, and he was deeply respected within the railroad community. Further demonstrating his dedication to his fellow workers, Don spent 10 years as the General Secretary-Treasurer of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers union, advocating for the rights and well-being of his peers.
Don's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing him with strength and comfort. He lived his beliefs through his actions, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need.
Beyond his professional and spiritual life, Don was a man of many interests. He had a passion for golf, a sport that not only challenged him but also allowed for precious moments with friends and family on the green. His love for antiquing was shared with his beloved wife, Janet, with whom he spent countless hours in search of unique treasures, creating lasting memories.
Don's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Janet, and their children, Mark and Steve LeSage. His joyful spirit will also live on through his grandchildren, Chase LeSage, Hadley Mallahan, and Mallory LeSage, as well as his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Skylar, Greyson, Paige, Addison, Kurtis, Graham, and Enola, who will miss their beloved patriarch deeply.
Don's life was one of unwavering service, boundless generosity, and profound thoughtfulness. His impact on his family, friends, and community will be felt for generations to come. As we say farewell to a man who was the embodiment of selflessness, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he has left us. Don LeSage's story is one of love, resilience, and an enduring commitment to the welfare of others, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
