Donald A. Lundine

Donald Arthur Lundine, 89, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024. Born May 28, 1935, in Rockford, the son of Henry and Adeline (Raddatz) Lundine. Don was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Graduate of Rockford East High School and attended University of Illinois Champaign Urbana. Veteran of the U.S. Army where he worked in the message center of 3rd Armored Division in Frankfort, Germany and received letters of commendation. Don married Lois Bargren on June 23, 1956. He worked for Mid States Industrial Corp., Illinois Water Treatment, Eric Gustafson Co. and as support staff of Delehanty Funeral Home and Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd. Don loved fishing, baseball, cross word puzzles, music, art, sports, his family and God. He liked to fix and repair everything. Don supported and attended the musical, theatrical, sports and academic endeavors of his children, grandchildren and wife. He played competitive baseball and softball into his 70's.
Don was always "friendly with his neighbors" (as noted by a grade school teacher) and continued throughout his life.
Survived by his wife, Lois; children, Bruce (Carolyn), Brad (Kris), Denise, and Dan (Kristi); grandchildren, Kristin (Erik), David (Terra), Matthew (Allie), Sarah (David), Anna, Lizzie (Jacob), Dr. Mark, Michael, Paige, Elise and Kaera; great-grandsons, Luke, Theo, and Joshua; sister-in-law, Susan McGhee; brother-in-law, Dr. John (Martha) Bargren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Leroy (Elaine) Lundine; sisters, Shirley (Jim) O'Neil and Carol (Art) Sinden; and parents-in-law, Inga & Herbert Bargren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
