Joan Ann Blanchard, age 85, of Cherry Valley, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Joan was born May 5, 1940, the daughter of William and Patricia (Hammond) Blanchard, in Muskegon, Michigan. She graduated from Rockford East High School, Class of 1958. Joan was married to Ralph Arendt for many years. She worked at Alpine Veterinary Clinic in Rockford as well as the Sarasota Fairgrounds in Florida.
Joan was involved with the Cherry Valley Historical Society and Cherry Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, watching television, and playing Mahjong with her friends. Joan had a special talent and passion for designing and knitting blankets and mouse toys for cats.
Surviving relatives include her children, Suzanne Simonson and William (Sheri) Arendt; grandchildren, Valerie (Ankit) Shah, Jack (Diana) Arendt and Jason Arendt; great-grandchildren, Nyla and Neev; cousin, Connie (Bill) Neeley and her beloved cats, Nicholas, Buddy and Honey. Joan is predeceased by her parents and her son-in-law, Floyd Simonson.
There will be no service. A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
