Donald "Donnie" Wells Manley, 79, of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on February 23, 1945, in Nicholas County, Kentucky to the late, Howard Manley and Willetta Stanfield Manley. During his 79 years, Donnie made significant contributions to both the workforce and his community.
His career began as a painter at Hobart Corp, where he honed his skills for several years. He later transitioned to farming, dedicating over forty years to this vocation, showcasing his commitment to hard work and the land. Additionally, Donnie spent 16 years at Pecks Farm Supply in Sharpsburg, where he was known for his dedication and service to the local agriculture community.
Donnie was a man of many interests and passions. He found joy in collecting Indian artifacts, as well as hunting and fishing. A true sports enthusiast, he loved watching baseball and supporting the UK Wildcats basketball team.
A devoted member of The Old Springfield Presbyterian Church, Donnie’s faith was an integral part of his life. He cherished his family deeply and shared a loving bond with his wife, Sandy Leach Manley. Together, they raised two sons, Donald Wells Manley Jr. (Holly) and Shannon Clay Manley (Jeana). Donnie's legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Clay, Zachary, and Ally Grace Manley; as well as his five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2025, in the Chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Henderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home is from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Pallbearers include Ryan, Brandon, Zachary and Clay Manley, Brian Dawson and Alvin Leach.
Honorary pallbearers include Ally Grace Manley, Bobby & Angie Leach, Howard & Donna Leach, Debbie Dawson, Dougie Leach, Kim Caskey and Mary Mitchell Manley.
