Donald Marks Obituary
Don was a man who lived with laughter in his heart and a twinkle in his eye. Known for his quick wit and fun-loving spirit, he brought joy to everyone around him – whether through a clever joke, a big smile, or simply being present when it mattered most.
He spent his entire career at LOF where he worked faithfully for over 30 years. After retiring, Don devoted himself fully to what mattered most-caring for his beloved wife, Helne, during her final years. Married for 58 years before her passing in 2014, theirs was a bond rooted in deep love, devotion, and partnership.
In his younger years, Don was an active member of the Elks, and later in life, he found friendship and community through the Moose Lodge. He valued connection, conversation, and always enjoyed being part of something bigger than himself.
Don is survived by his loving children: Jill (John) Walenga, Tim (Julie) Marks, and Sue (Steve) Carter. He was a proud grandfather to Megan, Michelle, Jake, Nicole, Melissa, Michael, Christopher, and Alyson-and a cherished great-grandfather to a growing number of little ones who will grow up hearing stories of his warmth and humor.
His legacy is one of hard work, compassion, laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A private family service will be held in his honor. In lie of flowers, the family encourages you to raise a glass, share a good story, and remember Don with a smile. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
