Donald Martini, 85, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Munson Township, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 24, 1939, Donald lived a life defined by purpose, ingenuity, and an unyielding work ethic that left an enduring impact on all who knew him.
A man of many talents, Donald's career spanned tool and die casting, HVAC, and electrician work for General Motors, where he retired after years of dedicated service. Even in retirement, his drive to contribute led him to a 15-year career in maintenance at Lakeland Community College, from which he also retired, leaving a legacy of commitment and skill.
An inventive spirit, Donald was a tinkerer at heart, notably creating a mechanism for collapsible baby strollers-a testament to his knack for solving everyday challenges with ingenuity.
Donald took great pride in his two years of service in the U.S. Army, with postings in Myrtle Beach and Juneau. His military service was a cherished chapter of his life, reflecting his deep commitment to duty.
A lover of the outdoors, Donald found joy in fishing and taking leisurely walks around the lake at Walter C. Best Park, moments that brought him peace and connection to nature. Above all, he was a devoted provider, instilling in his children the values of hard work, perseverance, and integrity through his steadfast example. He shared five children with Kay Martini, together building a family he cherished.
He is survived by his sons, Mike, Stevan, and Craig (Kimberly) Martini; daughters, Cheryl (Joe) Bolan and Brandi Martini; grandchildren, Carissa (Jesse) White, Ona Martini, Carmen Martini, and Charlie Martini; great-grandchildren, Carter and Landon White; sister, Janet (Ed) Buragas; and brother, Jim (Sue) Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Martha (née Westermann) Martin, and siblings, Frank (Ruth) Martin, Mary (Bob) Smith, Christie Martin, Martha (Bob) Chalupa, and Richard Martin.
A private burial will be held later this week at Acacia Cemetery, with a celebration of life planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Donald's memory.
Donald's legacy of integrity, innovation, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
