Craig Patrick Schinness, age 61, of Chesterland, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Amelia Grace Assisted Living. Born on June 8, 1964, in Cleveland, OH, he was the beloved son of Jack and Sandy (nee: Hamley) Schinness. Craig's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and hard work, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Craig grew up in a bustling household that was always filled with warmth and humor. He graduated from Chardon High School in 1982, where he was known for his spirit and athleticism, particularly on the football field. A man of many talents, Craig's early career saw him working in various capacities, from landscaping to creating winter magic as a Snow Maker at Alpine Valley. His adventurous spirit even led him to work as a Deckhand on the Yaetana Barg Lines in Alaska, a testament to his love for the great outdoors. Eventually, Craig found his calling as a Diesel Mechanic for Hans' Freightliner, where he was not only skilled with his hands but also brought joy and camaraderie to the workplace. Craig was a person who could light up a room with his humor.
Beyond his work, Craig was a devoted sibling and a cherished friend. He leaves behind a loving family: his brothers and sisters Scott Schinness (Jennifer) of Mayer, AZ; Kelly Weisenburger (Eric) of Norwalk, OH; Todd Schinness (Kathy) of Chesterland, OH; Sean Schinness (Jeanette) of Chardon, OH; Adam (OJ) Schinness of Chandler, AZ; Ethan Schinness of Kenton, OH; and Cadie Forrester (Rob) of Chesterland, OH. Craig was also a beloved uncle and great-uncle to many.
Craig's interests were as varied as his skills. He was an avid skier and hiker, always seeking new adventures and experiences in the beauty of nature. Friends and family will remember Craig as someone who was not just funny, interesting, and friendly, but as someone who lived life to the fullest. Craig touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his humor and his engaging stories. His memory will be treasured forever.
A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, Ohio.
Arrangements are entrusted to Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com. Newspaper Instructions:
