Donald Maynard

“Donald Maynard, 97, of Ronkonkoma, New York, passed away on September 22, 2025.

There will be a graveside service at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735 on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:30AM. George Bundt of Central Presbyterian Church will be officiating.

Donald was born on Staten Island on June 15, 1928, to Frederick Maynard and Theresa Mottram, and graduated from Huntington High School. He was a long-time resident of Huntington, New York.

Don was married to the late Sophia Vander Marel on August 16, 1953; they were married 63 years.

Don was a Dugan’s bread delivery man, school bus driver, and school custodian. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Mets. He was a faithful decades-long member of Central Presbyterian Church, Huntington, New York, and served in many capacities including deacon and Sunday school teacher. Don served in the Army and was a Korean War Veteran.

Don is survived by his children: Don Maynard (Rebecca), Ken Maynard, Tara Kokkosis (Steve); grandchildren: Joel Maynard (Karol), Erin Nathaniel (Brandon), Angela Spentzouris (Georgios), Andrew Kokkosis (Farah), Kaitlyn Glover (Mathis); great-grandchildren: Leah Jackson, Emma Nathaniel, Sophia Nathaniel, Antonios Spentzouris, Ridley Kokkosis, Stavros Spentzouris, Serena Moreira Maynard, and Cassian Kokkosis.”
