Donald Jimmy "Slim" McLeod Sr., a cherished family man, respected colleague, and passionate hobbyist, passed away on June 26, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. Born on October 25, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, Slim lived a full and vibrant life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
Slim's journey began in Toledo, where he was born into a loving family and later started one of his own. He met and married the love of his life, Carol Ann (Plush) McLeod. Together, they raised a family that included their daughter, Shari Ann McLeod, and their sons, Jeffery Douglas McLeod and the late Donald Jimmie McLeod Jr.
Slim's legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the rich tapestry of memories and lessons he imparted. His influence as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather remains a guiding light in their lives.
A dedicated worker, Slim retired from General Motors in Toledo, Ohio, after many years of committed service. His work was more than a job-it was a community where he forged lasting friendships and associations that deeply enriched his life.
Slim's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding his actions and his interactions with others. He consistently reflected the love and grace he found in his beliefs, serving as a quiet source of strength and kindness.
His interests were as wide-ranging as they were passionate. Slim loved the great outdoors and could often be found camping or fishing, embracing the beauty and tranquility of nature. Traveling brought him great joy, as he sought new adventures and experiences. He especially enjoyed dining out, relishing the opportunity to spend time with family and friends over a good meal.
Slim's dexterity and patience were evident in his love for building model ships-a hobby that required precision, focus, and an eye for detail, all traits he embodied in every aspect of life.
Those who knew Slim would describe him as friendly, always ready with a warm smile and a kind word. He was an interesting man, full of stories and experiences he shared generously. Adventurous at heart, he never shied away from trying something new or taking the road less traveled.
As we bid farewell to Donald Jimmy "Slim" McLeod Sr., we celebrate a life lived with enthusiasm, warmth, and love. We remember a man who built a legacy of kindness, adventure, and integrity-one that will continue to inspire and guide us.
Slim's memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit-defined by the joy he found in life's simple pleasures and his deep love for his family-will remain a beacon of light for generations to come.
