Donald Curtis Nicholson, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at UVA Medical Center, at the age of 76. He was born on September 22, 1949, in Charlottesville, VA. Donald lived a dutiful life marked by hard work, his love and dedication to his family and friends, and his passion for handiwork.
Donald was a Vietnam Veteran in the 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Squadron, 4th Calvary from February 1969 to February 1970. He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, an Army Commendation Medal, and The Bronze Star for his heroic and courageous actions for his fellow man.
Donald spent his career working for Wrangler in Madison County, VA, for 27 years and then MWP in Madison County, VA, for 15 years. His avid love for working, tractors, and any little project that could keep him busy was well-known among his family and friends. A man of all work, Donald was jack of all trades, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge with others.
In addition to his professional life, Donald had a deep appreciation for the little things. He loved his home, being active in the yard on his KIOTI tractor, and his pets; Lucky and Mr. Bojangles. The amount of love and patience he gave to all was a testament to the wonderful man he was.
Donald was preceded by death to the late Delmar Clevon Nicholson and Margaret Virginia Nicholson. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ann Terrell Nicholson; daughter Wendy Crabtree and partner Troy Fisher of Stuarts Draft, VA; Brother, Danny Cleveland Nicholson, and wife Janice of Orlando, FL; Sister Doris N. Sullivan of Charlottesville, VA; Two granddaughters, Taylor Crabtree and Kaitlyn Crabtree.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November, 21, 2025 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison County, VA, conducted by Pastors, Jeff Tucker and Johnny Hawkins. Interment will be in Etlan Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
