Donald Edwin O’Shields, 93, of Roebuck, SC passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. He was born on July 24, 1932 to the late Myrtle Adair and Wallace Mayes O’Shields. He was the widower of Margie Graham O’Shields “MooMa”, his beloved wife of 60 years.
Born and raised in Pauline, Donald was one of the last two surviving members of Pauline High School Class of 1950. After proudly serving his country with the United States Army, he earned his business degree from Robinson Business College. Donald was an employee of Draper Corporation before joining Hamrick Mills in Gaffney, SC. He proudly served them well as Human Resources Director and Safety Director for 28 years.
In his free time, Donald enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and golf, and was a member of Three Pines Country Club. He was also a fan of sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. Donald was a long-time member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered for his sharp mind and even sharper tongue, and his true pride and joy – his 1967 green and white Ford truck.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Debbie Galloway (Lewis) and Lisa Allen (Peter); granddaughter, Lindsey Gilbert (Josh); great-grandson, Miles Gilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews. He would often say he was “the last duck on the pond”, having been predeceased by his brothers, Herbert O’Shields, Earle O’Shields, Lloyd O'Shields, Wiley O'Shields, and Lester O’Shields; and sisters, Alice Parker and Hester Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his grandsons, Jason Galloway and Christopher Galloway.
Graveside services will be 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Richard Thomas and Rev. Jimmie Farmer.
In memory of Donald, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
