Donald Eugene Olson, 89, of Baxter, passed away on December 29, 2023. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Pastor Dave McGaffey. Visitation will precede the service by one hour.
Born on June 13, 1934, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to Wallace and Mabel (Knowles) Olson, Donald married Betty Smith on October 3, 1953. He dedicated 36 years of his career to Potlatch.
Donald found joy in fishing and hunting, and he was an avid bowler who cherished baking cookies with his great-grandchildren. Actively involved in various organizations, he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, National Bowling Association, NRA, and the Moose Lodge. Donald served as the head usher at the Church of the Nazarene for many years, and was instrumental in building and remodeling the church.
Survived by his loving wife, Betty, and children Steven Olson, Michael Olson (Tosha Welch), Tamara Solberg, and Alan Olson (Daniel Arrell), Donald leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and fur-baby, Ella. He is preceded in death by his parents, son David Olson, daughter-in-law Mary Jane Olson, and siblings Janet Olson and Roger Olson.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Donald will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.
