Donald Justus Olsson, born November 14, 1942, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his family on June 11, 2025, at the age of 82. A man of quiet strength, deep faith, and boundless curiosity, Don lived a life rooted in his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, with whom he shared a lifetime of faith and partnership. Together, they raised five children: daughters Kathi, Esther, Betsy, and Anna, and their son Erik. He also loved his sons-in-law, Nick, David, Matt and Eddie. Don was a proud grandfather to Landen, Justus, Logan, Ellie, Lilly, Leigha, Max and Henry, each of whom he faithfully lifted in prayer.
Don was one of the founding members of The Garden church, where his deep commitment to Christ and his community became a legacy of spiritual leadership.
A true student of God's creation, Don had an extensive knowledge of trees and rocks. He could identify a species or mineral with ease, often delighting others with his insights. His appreciation for nature reflected his deep reverence for the Creator.
Don Olsson will be remembered as a faithful husband, father, grandfather, friend and man of God. His legacy lives on in the roots he planted-in his family, his church, and the countless lives he touched.
Don Olsson's memorial service will be held on June 29th at 4pm at his home church, The Garden, located at 900 22nd St, Bakersfield, CA 93301. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to The Garden church. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Donald Justus Olsson, please visit our floral store.
