Donald J. Omernik

Donald James Omernik, 85, Of Fitchburg Wisconsin, and formerly of Stevens Point passed away on March 9, 2024. He was born on August 1, 1938, in Tomahawk Wisconsin. Donald, known for his dedication and service, was a Navy veteran. He served in the Navy entering on July 10, 1956 and was honorably discharged on July 22, 1959.
Donald dedicated his career to serving as a postal supervisor at the Stevens Point post office. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in fishing, traveling, and spending quality time with his friends and family. The joy of his life were his two granddaughters.
He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette Omernik, his daughter Bekky Schindler (Aaron), his son Bill Dragolovich (Kari Cook), his granddaughters Reagan Kunesh and Alexandra Kunesh, as well as his siblings Richard (Karen) Omernik, Gerald (Roxanne) Omernik, Tom (Sandi) Omernik, Carolyn Giese, Kathy (Gary) Erickson, and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia DeMares, his father Steven Omernik, and his mother Della Omernik.
A Memorial Service for Donald will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 8th, 2024, at Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street, Stevens Point. Visitation will take place on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial with full military honors will take place in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Donald's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
