PEABODY – It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Lawrence Perry, Jr. (Don), 78, of Peabody, who departed peacefully on August 22nd, 2025 with his daughter by his side.
Born September 7th, 1946 in Salem, MA to the late Donald L. Perry, Sr. of Lynn and Agnes M. Perry (Dzierzanowski) of Salem, Donald, Jr. was a North Shore native, having been raised and educated in Peabody. After graduating from Peabody High School, Don attended Chamberlayn Junior College in Boston. Following his studies, he served honorably in the National Guard and the Army Reserves, demonstrating a commitment to his country and community that would remain steadfast throughout his life.
Don was known for his dedicated service as a firefighter, lending his time and service to General Electric, the Army, and the City of Peabody. His decades of work showcased his bravery, selflessness, and a deep sense of responsibility for the safety and well-being of those around him.
Beyond his career as a firefighter, Don was a proud historian with a creative soul. He enjoyed constructing intricately detailed replicas of historical buildings, most notably the Rebecca Nurse Homestead in Danvers where he was also a member of their Militia. His love for model trains and firetrucks could not go unnoticed. Additionally, his humorous and engaging cartoon paintings and comics brought smiles to the faces of friends and family alike, showcasing his wit and lively spirit.
Don is predeceased by his brother Phillip Perry of Beverly as well as his beloved parents, Donald L. Perry, Sr. and Agnes Perry (Dzierzanoswki) and his best friend, Bear. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Perry, his three grandchildren Knoxin, Kazan, and Aiyla, and his cousin Brittney Morgan.
Donald lived a life filled with humor, creativity, and service to others, a legacy which all who knew him will carry with them for many years to come.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and relatives are invited to Donald's funeral service to be held on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 12P.M. (noon) at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple Street,
