Donald Raymond Pittillo, of Rolla, MO, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at the age of 81 after a long battle with Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders and Dementia.
He was born on May 10, 1944 in Stuttgart, AR to the late Raymond E. Pittillo and Helen Margaret (Hollidge) Pittillo. In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Ronald Pittillo.
Don grew up in a military family and moved to a different state every two or three years throughout his childhood until his parents eventually settled in the District Heights, MD area. On September 5, 1964 he married the love of his life, Elsa May (Elsaesser) Pittillo and started a family, ultimately having three children. Don joined the Marine Forces Reserve and served his country for 8 years. Don and Elsa lived on the East Coast for 14 years until they moved to Rolla, MO in 1978. Don worked for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for 37 years and finished his career as a Cartographic Technician before retiring in 1999. Don had many hobbies as well including woodworking, riding his motorcycle, watching his beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and Washington Redskins football team, and helping many friends and families with his handyman work. Don and Elsa recently celebrated 60 years of marriage in September 2024. During that time period, the happy couple had many adventures on his Goldwing motorcycle and visited every state in the continental United States while riding it. They made a lot of friends and met a lot of amazing people along the way.
Don will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Elsa Pittillo of Rolla, MO; three children, Mark Pittillo and wife, Alison of Iowa City, IA, Donna Brown and husband, Jeff of Gainesville, GA, and Keith Pittillo and wife, Stephanie of St. Louis, MO; and six grandchildren, Kylie Brown and husband, Josh Collison, Henry Pittillo, Owen Brown, Dulcie Pittillo, Finnley Brown and Lulu Pittillo. Don loved them all dearly.
A funeral service for Donald R. Pittillo will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A reception will be held after the burial from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wellington Clubhouse at 1300 Wellington Drive, Rolla, MO 65401. Please note that a visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
