Donald Henry Quirin, age 92, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home in Austin, MN. He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1950. Don proudly and honorably served in the United States Army. He worked as a teacher, in the insurance industry and again served his country working for the United States government FEMA division. Don was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin, the American Legion Post 91, and former member of the Mankato Sertoma Club. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling, baking, watching British comedies, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katy Quirin; grandson, Branden; parents, Emil and Myrtle Quirin; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Marian of Austin, MN; daughter, Darlene and Ian of Idaho; granddaughter, Alecia and Chris Budahn of Minnesota; grandson, Matthew Mai of Arizona; great-granddaughters, Haylie and Mckinley; sister, Annette Monet of Florida; brother-in-law, Leonard Krupicka of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at American Legion Post 91, 809 12th St. SW, Austin, MN 55912 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Memorials are preferred to KSMQ, American Legion Post 91 in Austin, or The Salvation Army. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
