Donald "Don" Deon Riggin, 86, of Herrin, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Manor Court in Carbondale, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with Pastor Kim Lee Brown officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Don was born on December 13, 1939, in Carterville, to Mary Katherine (Reese) and Geddes Deon Riggin. He married Judith Ann McIntosh on April 2, 1966, in Dongola, Illinois.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Riggin; son, Rick Riggin; grandchildren, Rick and Jason Riggin; great-grandchildren, Tristen Riggin, Baliegh Johnston, Isaak Riggin, Mahala Riggin; great great-grandchildren, Emily and Amelia Johnston; brother, Bill (Nancy) Riggin; niece and nephew, Dani (Bartok) and Ryan Riggin; great-nephew, Trent Riggin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant sister, Revena Riggin.

Don served as the purchasing agent for ITW Metalist in Elgin for 13 years and was previously employed by Elgin Sweeper Company.

He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and had been a devoted member of First Christian Church for more than 25 years, where he shared his musical talents playing the piano and organ. Don also played piano in the Gospel quartet, "Crusaders."

Don proudly served as Commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He had a deep passion for genealogy and was dedicated to keeping information current on Find a Grave. A licensed commercial and private pilot, Don enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan and golfing in a local league.
