Donald D.
Age 85, of Murrysville, quietly passed away in his sleep at his home on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Don was born on August 1, 1938 in Wilkinsburg, PA to Donald and Thelma Rodgers. He attended Penn Hills High School and furthered his education by putting himself through night school at Carnegie Mellon University. He started his 41 year career at Bell Telephone as a cable splicer and worked his way up to an engineer, working on many communication projects throughout the Pittsburgh area. He loved playing football, basketball, tennis and was a part of many bowling leagues. His hobbies included watching every Pittsburgh Pirates game, playing cards, and researching and investing in the stock market. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Verona/Rosedale Kiwanis Club and the Rosedale United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter and son-in-law Dana and Hamid Raissian, son and daughter-in-law Don and Robin Rodgers; two brothers Roy (Bonnie), Edwin (Carole), one sister Terry (Gary) and 2 granddaughters Kyla and Bridgett Rodgers. Friends received, Friday from 10-12 noon at Soxman Funeral Homes, ltd. 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills, where a Service will be held at 12 noon following visitation. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
