Donald A. “Don” Roller, age 89, passed away on July 16, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born at home on February 3, 1936, in Salem, Ohio, to Theron and Mildred Roller. He grew up in a small township with his four siblings, where he learned early how to work hard and keep his word. He graduated from North Lima High School and met Nancy Maxwell not long after. They were married in 1959 and spent the next 66 years side by side.

Don took pride in providing for his family, he worked more than one job at a time so Nancy could stay home and raise their kids. He started in banking, then served four years in the United States Army, including one year in Korea. After returning home, he re-entered the banking industry, where he remained for more than thirty years. He later transitioned into construction and demolition estimating, continuing to work with numbers and precision until he retired.

He wasn’t loud, but he was funny. He didn’t talk much about himself, but he listened when you needed him. He believed in fairness and routine. He bowled when he was younger and attended Journey Church later in life. He was proud of his family, but he’d never brag. He just kept showing up and doing what was needed.

The family enjoyed making memories: every summer, he took his family to the zoo, every fall, they went to the fair.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Roller of Kansas City, Missouri; children Lee (Sandy) Roller of Winter Haven, Florida, Greg (Debera) Roller of Wickliffe, Ohio; Keith (Elizabeth) Roller of Boardman, Ohio; Lynda (James) Stankowitz of Kansas City, Missouri; his beloved five grandchildren Jimmy Roller, Katherine (Andy) Deasey, Kelsey Stankowitz, Gabbie Roller, Zachary Stankowitz; and brother Tom (Patty) Roller.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theron and Mildred Roller, siblings Kenneth Roller, Carole Scattergood and Judith Crawford.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, July 28, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 AM Immediately following, Don will be taken in procession to Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, where military honors and committal service will take place at 1:00 PM in recognition of his faithful service to his country.
