Delta- Donald Allen Scott passed away April 9, 2024, at the Manor House surrounded by his family. He was born July 19, 1930, Otterville, Missouri to Herold Scott and Lula Edwards Scott. During his childhood he loved to tease his younger and older sisters Annie & Sis. He later joined the Army and served for eight years and then transferred to the Navy for twelve more years. He served during both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. While serving in Columbus, Ohio, he met Ruth Wesley. They later married on June 6, 1965.

    During his life he worked many places. He worked as a manager for the University of Iowa laundry mat and also worked at the physical plant as a custodian. He was a manager in Sigourney for the Des Moines Register and encouraged all his children to have a paper route. He is probably best known for his last job at Wal-Mart as a cashier, singing to every customer that entered the store. He loved to sing and spent his whole life entertaining to make people smile.

    Those left to cherish his memory are his children Mike (Meg) Scott, Nancy (Randy) Halphen, Anne Scott, Sharon (Kurt) Feldman all of Maryland, Donna Milford of Smyrra TN, Susan (Neal) Miller of Oskaloosa, Rebecca Clubb of Williamsburg, patty (Jon) Davis of What Cheer, William Scott of Washington and Martha Pherigo of Delta. He had more that thirty grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; beloved wife Ruth of more than 50 years; an infant daughter Donna Ruth Scott; son John Scott; a brother Nolan; and a sister Norma “Sis.”

    Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Oskaloosa. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Memories- Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 -7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Memorials may be given to the church for missions. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
