The family of Donald Vernard Springstead, 89, of Weidman, Michigan, is saddened to announce his passing on December 20th, 2024. His battle with serious health issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
Donald, fondly known as Don, was born to Vernard and Harriet (Reynolds) Springstead on August 21st, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. Don worked as a printer until he retired in 2000.
Don's loving spirit is carried on by his children, Bonnie Anderson, Kevin Springstead, Chris Springstead, and Wendy Keene, amongst many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding him in peace were his parents, Harriet and Vernard Springstead, his brother Thomas Springstead, and his children Vern Springstead and Deborah Springstead.
Don was a man of many titles, but his favorites, by far, were "Dad" and "Grandpa" (or "Grandpa Grandpa" to his great grandchildren.) Don loved watching Disney movies with all the kids and making them copies of their favorites to take home. He also loved listening to his favorite music and made mixed C.D.s for his family members when they shared his love for any of his favorite songs. His hobby was riding a bicycle, and he enjoyed riding with his family whenever they were able to join him. His favorite delicacy was anything chocolate, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were always excited to find a bowl full that they could share with him in his living room.
A private family service will take place at a later time.
In our hearts, you will always stay, loved and remembered every day. Your legacy will live on in those who knew and loved you.
