Donald Lyle Turner, 81, of North Canton, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. Born in 1944, Don was a proud graduate of Perry High School, Class of 1962, where he met his wife of 61 years, Connie (Gussett) Turner. He dedicated 45 years of his career to the Hoover Company, where he was a valued employee and respected by all who knew him.
Don's true passion, however, was his involvement in wrestling. He was a key figure in the Stark County wrestling community, serving as a leader and advocate for the sport. He ran the Stark County Wrestling Scholarship Foundation, ensuring the future of local wrestling athletes. His contributions were recognized when he was inducted into the Stark County Wrestling Hall of Fame, a testament to his commitment to the sport and its community.
A devoted member and elder of Perry Christian Church, Don was known for his unwavering faith, his generosity, and his ability to touch the lives of all who met him. He lived his life with integrity, kindness, and a strong sense of duty to his family, friends, and community.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Martha Turner; and his brothers, Richard and David Turner. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Turner; three sons and their wives, Mike and Patricia Turner, Jeff and Karen Turner, and Kent and Carolyn Turner; 6 grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Becky) Turner and Diane Boswell.
A service to celebrate Don's life will be held at Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr NW, Canton, OH 44708, on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM with calling hours held prior on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
