Donald Douglas Underwood, age 70, of Louisville, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Born on October 10, 1954 in Fairfax, Virginia, Don lived the majority of his life in Jefferson County, Kentucky. In his early years, Don spent his after-school hours caring for dogs and puppies in his parent's kennel where he developed a love for animals. He was especially fond of Akita dogs, cats and exotic pets. As a young man, Don immersed himself in the study of martial arts earning a third-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Sometime later, Don took ballroom dancing lessons and could "trip the lights fantastic" becoming a ballroom dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio where he traveled the world dancing and teaching. For many years and up until his retirement in 2018, Don worked with the United Parcel Service upholding their motto "Moving the world forward by delivering what matters." After retirement, Don became an avid video game player to while away the hours.

He was a member of Lyons Missionary Baptist Church.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Robin Beckett Underwood; his father, James Elijah Underwood; and a sister, Carlene Underwood.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Helm Underwood; a sister, Suzette Underwood Gregory; a niece and nephew, Alishia Gregory, Jeremy (Jamie) Gregory and great-niece, Carlene Gregory, all of Louisville. He also left behind two dear friends of several decades, Andy Ostertag and Ray Winder; and a cat named Saber. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation for Don will be from 10AM to 1PM on Monday, August 18 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral service will be at 1PM on Monday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery.
