Donald "Pat" Ungar, 79, of Boardman, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, with his wife at his side.
Donald was born on August 19, 1946, in Cleveland, the son of the late Alfred Paul and Dorothy M. McDonald.
After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1964, Pat enlisted in the Marine Corp. where he obtained the rank of first Sergeant and was awarded the silver star, two bronze stars and various other honors. He was a member, lector, and volunteer in the soup kitchen at St. Dominic Church. Pat enjoyed going to the shooting range, flying model airplanes, traveling with his wife, having family over for the holidays, going out to breakfast and dinners with friends, playing dominos on Friday nights and riding "Papa Smurf" his coveted motorcycle with the Retread Cycle Motorcycle Club.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Ivana Luka-Ungar, whom he married on July 7, 2007, stepdaughters Ashley (Matt) Lister of Asheville, North Carolina, Heather (Jim) Adams of Brandon, Mississippi and Lori Luka-Wyrwas (Tony Wyrwas) of Avon, Ohio, stepson Christopher (Jessica) Luka of Reston, Virginia, grandchildren Brady Watson, Easton, Ruthie and Ruby Adams and special friends Mickey and Kevin. Pat is preceded in death by his brother John Roy Ungar, granddaughter Emma Grace Watson and special friends Louie Amicarelli, and Phil and Bev Goings.

I was just checking on old friends from my class at Mooney, and was so sad to find out Pat has passed away. He was a wonderful guy who had a ready smile for everyone. My heartfelt condolences to his family
