Born on June 25, 1956, in Washington, Indiana, he was the beloved son of Donald V. and Mary (Sims) Vickers. Donald was an avid, self-described "gearhead", having a passion for cars and motorcycles all his life. Out of that love came his life-long career as a mechanic. He collected model cars and amassed hundreds of Hot Wheels over the years. His nieces and nephews, whom he was very fond, enjoyed receiving gifts of those toy cars. He was a very vintage-minded person and loved old movies.
He was preceded in death by his father. Donald is lovingly remembered by his mother; his three daughters: Natalie, Mandi, and Brandi Vickers; Sisters: Patty (Steve) Glinis, Peggy (Don) Shea, and Mary Jane (Marty) Tarrh; several grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen according to his wishes. A private memorial and family gathering will be held.

I worked with Don as a mechanic from the mid 90´s becoming fast friends, sharing common interests. I was impressed every time I spoke to him or listened to his many amazing stories. His passion, integrity and sincerity showed in his work and relationships. He talked often about his family, especially the children because I believe he was still a child at heart. A true legend of a man in my mind. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
