OBITUARY
Donald J. Walker, 91, a lifelong resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, died on August 19, 2024. Born on June 17, 1933, he was the son of the late Howard J. Walker and Mildred McCarthy Walker. He graduated from Wappingers Central School in 1951. He was employed as a Tax Assessor for the City of Beacon and the Village of Wappingers Falls. He also worked as a real estate appraiser and then a data collector for the Town of Stanford Assessors Office. On November 28, 1959, he married the former Teresa DiSantis at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Teresa pre-deceased him on May 10, 2013. Survivors include his sons Edward Walker (Lisa), David Walker (Anne), James Walker, and his daughters Anne (Mark), and Margaret (William). Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Jenessa, Ryan, Taylor, Alexa and Julia along with 3 great grandchildren Kaia, Teddy and Hazel and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister Jane Marie Walker, and a brother Arthur J. Walker. Mr. Walker was a life member of the William T. Garner Engine Company and the Wappingers Council Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Dutchess County Assessors Association, and the New York State Assessors Association. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, August 21st, 4:00 – 7:00pm, at the Delehanty Funeral home, 64 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
