Donnie Warren, age 68 of Gatesville, went to be with his Heavenly Father and the love of his life on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Cox officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Donald Wayne Warren was born on August 21, 1956 to the late Samuel Lee and Betty Jo Schoenewolf Warren in Gatesville, Texas. He married the love of his life, Nancy Whittenburg, on September 20, 1975, and together they made their home in Gatesville, spending the next 47 years together. During his younger years, Donnie worked as a painter for Kalyn. Later in life, he worked as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, spending 20 years before retiring. He then returned to work as a maintenance supervisor for TDCJ, where he was still employed. Donnie was known and loved for his witty sense of humor, playful spirit, and love of Whataburger. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also looked forward to his annual fishing trips at Lake Belton with his brothers and the many hunting and Bass Pro Shop trips with his kids and grandkids.
Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Sam and Betty Warren; sister, Sandra Warren; brother, Bobby Jo Warren; and grandson, Max Warren Moffett.
He is survived by his children, Amy Best and husband, Daniel, Dee Moffett and husband, Jason, and Jason Warren and wife, Whitney; grandchildren, Caylee Schiff and husband, Hunter, Caydon Best, Emily Moffett, Sofee Moffett, Lucas Moffett, Jace Warren, Tyler Warren, Austin Warren, and Cole Best; brothers, Stanley Warren and wife, Emily, and David Warren and wife, Kathryn; sister, Kay Branham and husband, Steve; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Max Warren Moffett Scholarship, Care of Gatesville ISD, 311 S. Lovers Lane, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
