August 31, 1937 - December 7, 2024
Donald Hugh Wilson, also known as Woo-Woo to friends and Pop to loved ones, passed away on December 7, 2024, in Del Rio, Texas at the age of 87.
Don was born in Wynona, Oklahoma (Osage County) on August 31, 1937. He attended High School at Velma-Alma Oklahoma, achieving various athletic awards. After graduating high school, he married Loretta Ann Lemonds. Throughout his lifetime, starting with nothing, working in potash mines, on drilling rigs, cleaning restaurants and bars for a second job at midnight, Don was always motivated to provide and start a legacy for his family. In 1962, his legacy began at Chemical Weed Control Inc., in Hobbs New Mexico and has continued to expand into Sundown Operating Inc. with his son Rusty, the 3rd generation. It still continues to evolve to the 4th generation of family members. Don had several business during his lifetime throughout the Texas oil fields. Don H. Wilson Producing in East Texas was one of his pride and joys. Don retired in Del Rio, Texas where he enjoyed hunting and fishing Lake Armistad.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ruby Wilson, His oldest sister, Betty Crowley and his younger sister, Becky Dickson.
Don is survived by a daughter Marva (Steve) Barron of Texas; Two sons, Rusty (Cindy) Wilson of Lubbock and Donnie (Tammie) Wilson of Brownwood. Seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Don will be laid to rest on Tuesday, December 17th at 12:00 in Brownwood Texas at the Rafter 5 Ranch Cemetery. Davis Morris Funeral Chapel in Brownwood is entrusted with the care of Mr. Wilson. www.heritagefuneraltx.com
