Graveside services for Jimmy Lane Minica, 81, of Brownwood formerly of Zephyr, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7th at Greenleaf Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home Davis-Morris. Jimmy Minica peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Jan.1 at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene. He was born June 23,1943 in Brownwood, the eldest son of Bud and Lorene Minica. He worked alongside his dad, a ranch foreman growing up. He learned at an early age how to drive tractors, grow and harvest crops, break horses, work cattle, and build fences. He enjoyed participating in rodeos in several events, calf roping being the favorite. After graduating from Zephyr High School in 1961, he ventured to Austin, to work at the State Capital. There he attended Hillcrest Baptist where he was baptized on Sept.30,1962. Austin was not where his heart was, so he returned to Brownwood and married Irma Glenice Vernon Nov.11,1966. Together they made their home in Zephyr on a small ranch for 39 years. Factory work was his destiny. He worked for Drisco Pipe until the Kohler Co. came to Brownwood in 1976, He was amongst the first hired employees of the Brownwood Kohler Plant. He soon became the Spray Foreman and retired in 2016. Jimmy loved his family with his whole being. He enjoyed big family gatherings at his house from Christmas to July 4th celebrations. He traveled to many rodeos, horse shows, and sporting events for his children. He was determined not to miss a single event. He has followed his grandkids to the ends of the earth attending numerous stock shows, dance recitals, cheerleading competitions, football and softball games all over the state of Texas. Left behind to cherish his memory is his sister Jody Teague of Blanket, brother Larry Minica of Early, daughter Jimane Minica Allen and husband Larry Allen of Brownwood/Bangs, son Scott Lockwood and wife Janet of Blanco. Grandchildren: Keelee Allen Hargrove of Big Springs, Kaden Allen of Bangs, Nichole and Russell Reitz of La Vernia, Alexandra and Joshua Mann of Blanco, Carrie and Byrun Mabry of Kendalia. Great Grandchildren: Hayes Hargrove, Averi Reitz, Logan Reitz, Maia Mann, Darcy Mann, Eli Mabry and Cora Mabry. The family requests that memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. Mail to Hendrick Hospice Care 1651 Pine Street Abilene, Tx 79601. A facility with certified hospice and palliative care nurses who have a true calling for what they do. I worked with Jimmy for twenty five years at Kohler company and am very saddened to hear of his passing. He was the go-to guy in the spray department and was very respected and liked by everyone at the plant.

I worked with his son-in-law, Larry, for many years at Kohler, also, and my condolences and thoughts are with him and Jimmy´s daughter during this difficult time.
