William Patrick "Pat" Palmore passed away Saturday night of complications from a stroke he sustained nearly 6 years ago. We were so fortunate to have been able to see him just hours before.
Born in Malta, TX on August 10, 1946, to Bartow and Gerald Palmore, he grew up close with his brother Steve in the small town of DeKalb.
After graduating from North Texas University, he married Janis Dinese Moreland Palmore, and remained so until her death in 1981. They had two daughters, Leigh and Kriss.
His careers over the years centered around finance. He was Vice President and President of the banks in Athens and Coolidge, TX. Being a single dad, he had to juggle work and all the shuttling from dance, gymnastics, twirling, piano and the like.
He married Juanell Hargrove Palmore in 1997. In their retirement years, they loved to flip houses and got really good at it. Their rehab stories were always so entertaining to hear.
His obsession in life was his grandchildren and his dog, Liza. He loved playing games together and taking them on adventures. He could be seen at almost every one of their sporting events - from baseball to basketball to football and piano to gymnastics and cheer.
He'd needed round-the-clock care since the stroke and was a favorite at the Arbor House in Marble Falls. His condition had removed any filter he had, and he would tell the craziest jokes. The employees always said that he made their day.
Juanell Palmore cared for Pat during the health ordeal. It was a commitment she never wavered from.
He will be missed terribly
We miss his laugh, his advice, his praise. We miss walks with him and finding and watching the best shows on TV. We miss the way you could give him loan terms and he could just spit out an amortization schedule in his head that was pretty dead on. We miss how he always wanted to cheer on the underdog. We miss his hugs. The stroke didn't take those away.
He is survived by his daughters, Leigh Pierce (Dave) and Kriss Meservey (Mark), his wife, Juanell and daughters, Tonya Cockburn (Jeff), Shelley Ashcroft (Jason); grandchildren, Cannon and Abby Pierce, Cullen (Kelci), Cohen (April), Conley Cockburn and Annalise; his brother, Steve Palmore (Gail) and cousin, Mary Morris (Mark).
A private service will be held at a later date for family and friends to honor Pat's tremendous life.
