A.G Palmore

Adrian Gray ("A.G.") Palmore passed away on June 12, 2025, in Cumming, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, leadership and generosity.
A.G. was born on May 12, 1931, in Covington County, Alabama to the late Wilmer Gray and the late Mattie Lou (Braden) Palmore. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Lisa (Taylor) Palmore of Cumming, Georgia; a daughter, Melanie Palmore Simon of Marietta, Georgia; granddaughters Lauren Palmore and Audrey Palmore of San Francisco, California, Jennifer Simon of Denver, Colorado, and Mary Simon of Marietta, Georgia; and grandson Eric Simon of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Nan (Kelley) Palmore; his parents; and his brothers, Ray Palmore, James Palmore, Von Palmore, and Arlie Palmore.
After graduating from Evergreen High School in 1950, A.G. joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was assigned to the U.S. General Butner, a Navy attack transport carrier. Following his military service, A.G. attended the University of Alabama, graduating in 1958 with a degree in accounting. He began his accounting career at Haskins and Sells in the Birmingham office.
In 1961 he married Patricia Kelley and they lived in Birmingham, Mobile and Andalusia while raising their two children. A.G. was active in church life, serving as a deacon of Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile before moving to Andalusia in 1978. In Andalusia, A.G. served as Controller at Alabama Electric Cooperative (Power South), and later as Vice President of Finance and Administration. He retired from Power South in 2000. A.G. was a highly respected leader in the community, serving as President of the Andalusia Rotary Club in 1985 and President of the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce in 1986. He and the family attended First Baptist Church of Andalusia where A.G. served as deacon, Superintendent of Sunday Schools and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
In 2021, A.G. moved to the Atlanta area to be closer to his children. He quickly made new friends and remained vibrant until his passing, but Andalusia was always his home.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Andalusia. Services for A.G. Palmore will be at 12:00 p.m. in the main sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with the burial following at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are: Corey Bryan, Shannon Driver, Butch Kelley, George Kelley, Jr., Eric Simon, and Blake Turman.
